Joe Zimmerman

During his seven years as Athletic Director at Friends University, Zimmerman has implemented institutional goals, objectives, and processes leading to growth in student athlete participation from 170 students to more than 370 in 15 collegiate sports.

 

He has been recognized for establishing additional new sports and for overseeing numerous team successes, including KCAC championships, NAIA national championship post-season appearances, and activities and commitments in the NAIA Champions of Character program.

 

Zimmerman has built strong relationships between the athletic department and the faculty; along with implementing academic goals and strategies resulting in over 55 percent of student athletes achieving athletic Director Honor Roll status and 30 plus academic All-American Scholar Athletes annually over the past four years.

In his seven years, Zimmerman has been honored as, KCAC Athletic Director of Year (2006-2007, 2008-2009).

Zimmerman has been a member of Friends University family since 1999 when he started as Director of Building Services and then transferred to Director of Purchasing. Prior to joining Friends University, he was Director of Data Networking and Telecommunications at Wichita Clinic.

Zimmerman is a lifetime resident of the Wichita area and has been married for 28 years with two sons. He holds a degree in business management from Friends University.
