Johnson City, TN – The Friends University Track & Field teams will send a record number of athletes to compete Thursday through Saturday in Johnson City, Tennessee at the 2010 Indoor National Championships.
The Falcons will kick off the competition on Thursday afternoon with Jordan Arnold, Karissa Cominator, Matt Ditzler and Dan Neidlinger in the 5,000 meter semi-final. Arnold and Ditzler are both ranked fifth on the final entry list.
Two relays will also compete Thursday evening. Allen Shockley, Cole Hancock, Michael Gurley, and Tim Patterson will run the distance medley relay while Lanae Kidd, Megan Shepherd, Sara Wiebe, and Kristie Adams will run the 4x800 semi-final.
Friday’s action will include Megan Shepherd in the 600 meter semi-final, eighth ranked Lanae Kidd in the 800 meter semi-final and Damian Berry in the 400 meter semi-final.
In addition to all of the finalists, three field event competitors will wrap up competition on Saturday afternoon. Quentin Benning will throw the shot put at 1:00 while Doug Pierce and second ranked Sara Wiebe will compete at 1:30 in the triple jump and high jump, respectively.
The women’s distance medley relay team of Lanae Kidd, Sara Wiebe, Megan Shepherd, and Taylor Doll ran a national qualifying time of 12:56.56 this season, but that relay will not compete. Christopher Steen clocked a 7.01 in the 60 meters at Missouri Southern, but will also not compete.
