The Friends University men's basketball team defeated the Bethany College Swedes Friday evening at the Garvey PE Center 88-82 in KCAC post-season quarterfinal action.

The Falcons entered the KCAC tournament as the number four seed with a 13-5 conference record. Friends University had defeated the Swedes in the final home game of the regular season 75-69.

In this contest the Falcons relied heavily on guard Zach Nelson's deadly outside shooting to win the game. Nelson led Friends University with 25 points while teammates Joe Mitchell and Thomas Bland contributed 21 and 15 points respectively.

The victory allows the Falcons to move to the semifinals which will be played Saturday, February 23.

Friends University will host McPherson College. The Bulldogs defeated the #1 seed University of St. Mary Spires 89-82 in overtime.

Game time is 6:00 p.m. at the Garvey PE Center.
