Women's Soccer - Mon, Dec. 6, 2010

Wichita, KS - This year, the Lady Falcons had six players named 2010 Daktronics-NAIA Women's Soccer Scholar-Athletes. The list of Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes was announced on December 3rd. In order to be nominated by an institution's head coach, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status to qualify for this honor.

Senior defender Tiffany McMahon finished her career with a solid season on the field as well as in the classroom. The other five players were all juniors. The three junior defenders were Lindsey Koland, Nikole Hollingshead, and Amy Bauer. Midfielder Erika Choriego and Sarah Goldsmith rounded out the Lady Falcons represented on this list.

The 2010 KCAC All-Conference teams have been announced, and many players from Friends were honored. Four Falcons were named to the All-KCAC Second team, including Senior Midfielder A.J. Cox, Sophomore Lisa Nguyen, Junior Defender Lindsey Koland, and Junior Goalkeeper Sarah Goldsmith. Cox tallied two goals on the year, while Nguyen led the team with five. Nguyen tied for 12th in goal scoring in the Conference. Goldsmith led the KCAC with 160 saves on the season. That amount ranks her 5th in Division 1 in saves.

Honorable Mention selections include Junior Forward Abby Cunningham, Sophomore Lindsay Geddes, and Sophomore Midfielder Breana Jones. Both Cunningham and Geddes had 12 shots-on-goal this season. Jones led the Falcons with 3 assists on the year.

The Lady Falcons are true examples of student athletes by having success in the classroom and on the field.
