Wichita, KS - On Friday, November 5 the Lady Falcons travelled to Winfield, Kansas to participate in the Tara Patterson Memorial Classic. Friday night's opponent were the Saints of Hillsdale Free Will Baptist College. Sophomore guard, Minta Whetstone was leading scorer for the Falcons with 16. Sophomore Ashley Mills and freshman Jessika Crews added 13 points and 10 points respectively. Junior Bre Selves added eight points and six rebounds. The Lady Falcons played tough defense throughout the game. The hardworking defense held Hillsdale to only 28.1% from the field and forced 34 turnovers. The final score of Friday's game was 77-41.
On Saturday, the Lady Falcons returned to Winfield to take on Dallas Christian College Crusaders. Seniors Tavi Davis and Raneisha Hunter had strong performances. Tavi had 11 points, five steals, and five rebounds. Raneisha had her first double-double on the season with 11 points and 12 rebounds. In this game, Friends received quality minutes from their bench, especially from sophomores Abril Marshall and Ashley Mills. Abril had 16 points, five rebounds, and four steals. Ashley Mills added 15 points, six rebounds, and four assists. Once again the Lady Falcons played tough defense and forced 41 turnovers. The final score of Saturday's game was 83-54.
Senior Tavi Davis and sophomore Ashley Mills were voted All-Classic Team. Tavi had a solid weekend with a total of 20 points, seven rebounds, six steals, and five assists. For the weekend, Ashley Mills had a total of 28 points on 44% shooting from the field, three steals, and nine rebounds.
The Lady Falcons currently have 2 wins and 1 loss. The first home game is on Wednesday, November 10 at 6pm. The Lady Falcons will take on the Baker University Wildcats.
