Wichita, KS - The Friends Volleyball team headed to Columbia, Missouri this past weekend to compete in Columbia College's Quality Inn Classic tournament. After dropping the first match, the Lady Falcons rebounded to win their next two, before losing their final game.

The two losses came against the 7th and 8th ranked teams in the nation, Columbia College and University of Texas at Brownsville. Both teams won in three games, but Friends played each match closely and gave a good fight. The Lady Falcons beat Wiley College in four games to notch their first win of the season, and followed that with a win against 30th ranked Missouri Baptist College, downing the Spartans in three games. Headed home with a 2-2 record, the team is pleased with their results and excited for things to come this season.

After the tournament concluded, 12 players were selected to the All-Tournament team. Two players from Friends were honored for their play over the weekend and selected to the team: Senior Rexanne Schilowsky and Junior Courtney McCune. Both players helped the Lady Falcons to a strong showing in a tournament with nationally-ranked teams involved.

The weekly KCAC rankings came out on Monday, and Friends has jumped to the top of the poll after their solid showing in the weekend tournament. Tabor College slid to the 4 spot after starting the season 0-4. The Lady Falcons will look to keep up the momentum as they head to Hillsboro to take on Tabor on Wednesday, with the match starting at 7:30 pm. The first home game will be on September 14th, as Friends will face off against Sterling College.
