Men's Soccer - Thu, Aug 19, 2010

Wichita, KS - As Friends University gets prepared for the 2010-2011 school year, the soccer season is also right around the corner. On the men's team, players have been working hard all summer to improve even further on a successful 2009 season. The Falcons feel that they are in a position to be a strong contender for a conference championship.

Coaches from around the conference took part in the preseason coaches' poll on August 10th, and the Friends men made a good showing, being selected in the top half of the KCAC. The team was selected to finish third, right behind Kansas Wesleyan and McPherson. After reaching the conference title match last year, the men know what it takes to compete and win in the very strong KCAC.

Head coach Nathan Wilkey is expecting big things from his team this year, and key players are returning to help fulfill those expectations. Three first team All-Conference players return for the Falcons. Brent Hobson, Daniel Sack, and Daniel Toledo will look to lead the way this season. Including Sack and Toledo, there are a total of six seniors on the squad, who will be looked to for leadership. Those seniors are James Cooper, Hayden Davis, Corey Wynn, and Corey Ouellette.

Friends opens its season at home against St. Gregory's on August 31st, and the first dual match will be at home on September 3rd, as both the men and the women take on William Penn. The team is ready to compete, and it should be an exciting season for Friends University soccer.
