Bartlesville, Okla. – The Oklahoma Wesleyan University Lady Eagles defeated the Friends University Falcons 3-0 today (Oct. 7) in Bartlesville, Okla.

The win moves the Lady Eagles into second place in the KCAC at 9-2, with one of their two setbacks coming at Friends back on Aug. 30.

The Falcons fell behind 19-13 in the opening set but rallied within 22-20 with the help of three kills from Madalyn Swinicki (JR/Wichita, Kan.).

But three straight points by the Lady Eagles gave OKWU the opening set 25-20.

The Lady Eagles then won the next set 25-14 and jumped out to a commanding 21-9 lead in the third before finishing the match 25-19.

Swinicki led Friends (6-18, 6-6 KCAC) with 10 kills and Jana Boston (SO/Newton, Kan.) put in 20 assists. Brittany Harris (SR/Flower Mound, Texas) had a team-high nine digs.

Emily Hollingsworth paced the Lady Eagles (13-6, 9-2 KCAC) with 12 kills, with Sydney Garis tallying a match-high 34 assists. Andrea Novakovic had a team-best 11 digs for OKWU.

The Falcons will next play in the KCAC Fall Fling, starting next Friday (Oct. 13) in Hutchinson, Kan. Friends will first play Bethel College on Friday at 9 am.
