Parkville, Mo. – The Park University Pirates slipped by the Friends University Men's Soccer Falcons 2-1 last night (Sept. 6) at Julian Field in Parkville, Mo.

Despite only finding the net once, the Falcons held an 18-11 advantage in shot attempts along with an 8-7 edge on-goal.

The Falcons went into the half down 1-0 but tied the score when Roberto Gomez (SO/Bello Horizonte, Brazil) headed in a shot off a corner kick from Marcos Gomez (SO/Bello Horizonte, Brazil) in the eighth minute of the second half.

It remained even until late in the match, as the Pirates also capitalized on a corner kick on an Adeeb Qaisi score from Jesse Jasso with 4:19 left in regulation.

Nicolas Fornari (JR/Santa Catorina, Brazil) led the Falcons (1-2) with a match-high five shots, with Marcos Gomez and Roberto Gomez each tallying four shots.

Isaias De La Torre scored the Pirates (2-1) first goal in the opening half and recorded a team-best four shots.

Friends goalkeeper Thibault Garnier (SO/Vion, France) made five saves and Thalu Masindi stopped seven shots for Park.

The Falcons will next return home and host Sooner Athletic Conference member University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma next Tuesday night (Sept. 12) starting at 8:30 pm.
