AUSTIN, Texas - Chelsea Baker (JR/Pittsburg, Kan.) wraps up her tremendous junior campaign with a top academic honor, being named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-American First Team as announced by the association Tuesday morning.

Baker, a 3.87 GPA student in Physical Education / Teacher Education, won the first individual National Championship in program history, taking home first place in the Pentathlon at the NAIA Indoor Track & Field Championships. She also finished No. 2 in the High Jump and No. 3 in the 60m Hurdles, earning the NAIA's Most Outstanding Female Performer of the Meet award, helping the Falcons to a program-best 10th place finish.

During the outdoor season, Baker finished No. 2 in the High Jump and No. 7 in the Long Jump at the  NAIA Outdoor Track & Field Championships. She was ranked No. 2 in the Heptathlon, but chose not to participate in it to run her four open events. Baker was named the USTFCCCA Regional Field Athlete of the Year.

Baker is now a 10-time All-American in her career with the five designations in 2016-2017.
