WICHITA, Kan. - The Friends University Baseball team's pitching was once again on point in Saturday's doubleheader against the University of Saint Mary (USM). The Falcons won both games on Senior Day inside historic Lawrence-Dumont Stadium to sweep the Spires in the series and move into a tie for 2nd place in the KCAC standings.

GAME ONE FINAL: (RV) FRIENDS 11, SAINT MARY 2:

The Spires scored their only two runs with two outs in the top of the 1st. Their first two batters singled before a ground out and a fly out, but they got a double after that to get on the board.

Friends (28-15, 14-7 KCAC) tied it up in the bottom of the inning. Augie Isaacson (SO/New Prague, Minn.) led it off with a single, and after a ground out, John Gardner (JR/Douglass, Kan.) crushed a two-run homer to left.

The Falcons tacked on three runs in the 4th inning. Joe Pedlowe (SR/Modesto, Calif.) hit a solo home run to right with one out, and Friends got three hits with two outs for the other two runs on a single by Eric Baynton (SR/Palmdale, Calif.) and doubles from Jacob Trimble (JR/Visalia, Calif.) and Isaacson.

Friends made it 9-2 in the next frame. Gardner led off the 5th with a double and Elijah Christenson (JR/Justin, Texas) and Jace Snodgrass (SO/Derby, Kan.) both reached after him on Spire errors. Pedlowe made them pay with a double, and Baynton brought in the other run with a single.

The Falcons finished off their scoring with a pair of runs in the 6th thanks to another Saint Mary (9-29, 7-14 KCAC) error and a sacrifice fly.

Devonte Wilson picked up his fourth win of the year, going 8.0 innings and giving up just the two runs with no walks and three strikeouts.

Pedlowe paced the Falcon offense with a 4-for-5 effort, adding to his game-high in hits with three runs batted in and two runs scored. Cameron Zane (FR/Wichita, Kan.) and Christenson also scored twice as Friends had 17 hits, six going for extra bases.

GAME TWO FINAL: (RV) FRIENDS 4, SAINT MARY 1:

Gardner got the Falcons started again in game two, hitting a solo home run in the 1st inning to give him a long ball in each game of the series.

Saint Mary tied it up in the 4th with an unearned run, but that's all they would score in the contest.

Friends got their other three runs in the bottom of the 6th. Gardner led it off with a single, Snodgrass bunted for a hit and Pedlowe followed with a double.Jordan Burnett (FR/Goodyear, Ariz.) brought home a run with a single and Baynton finished it off with a sacrifice fly.

The Spires got a runner on with a hit batsmen in the 7th, but Friends ended the game with a double play.

Ryan Kokora (JR/Boulder, Colo.) got the complete game win for the Falcons, giving up just six hits and one unearned run. He struck out three while not allowing a walk.

Gardner (3-3) and Pedlowe (2-3) were the only Falcons with multiple hits, but that was all the offense they needed.

Friends wraps up the non-conference portion of the season when they host No. 2 Oklahoma City on Tuesday, April 18th. First pitch is scheduled for 6:00pm. Head Coach Adam Neisius will be recognized for his 400th career win earlier this season in a ceremony before the game.
