Friends University Football will hit the gridiron this fall with a new wardrobe that will catch the eye of every Falcon Fan!

Coach Monty Lewis has selected new home and road jerseys to give the team a new look and allows the program to officially "retire" the former red and white jerseys of the last few years.

When the Falcons travel to Springfield, MO on September 1st to play Evangel the team will sport a white jersey trimmed in red and black along with solid red pants.

On September 8 when the team returns home to face conference opponent University of St. Mary the Falcons will wear a red jersey trimmed in white & black. Accenting the red jerseys will be a white pant trimmed in red & black colors.

For several years during the Lewis era the team competed in red jerseys with silver pants at home and white jerseys with silver pants on the road. Coach Lewis decided to utilize the silver pants which were previously used only in "special" games as part of his rebuilding of the Falcon football program.

Entering his 10th season at the helm Coach Lewis was able to secure the necessary funding to replace all game jerseys.

"It was definitely time for the original jerseys to be retired" stated Director of Athletics Joe Zimmerman. "Monty was very diligent and mindful of getting as much mileage out of the uniforms he inherited that he could. Every year he (Lewis) only replaced the jerseys that were in absolute need of replacement due to wear and tear. We will ensure we put the program in a position to replace uniforms every 3 to 4 years maximum from this point forward."

The selection of colors gives the program flexibility in uniform selection for both at home and on the road.

Coach Lewis commented: "We can dress either red jersey and white pants at home or even red jersey and red pants if we wanted. The same is true when we are on the road as we can go white tops with the red bottoms or even dress white top with white pants. I'm just glad we were able to get the complete sets and I know the players are excited for the new look".

The 2012 football season will begin with players reporting Tuesday, August 14th. The Falcons schedule is highlighted with non-conference games at Evangel on September 1 and a home game with Southern Nazarene September 15. Friends University is ranked #26 in the NAIA pre-season polls.
