Marion, Ind. - The 2012 NAIA Outdoor Track and Field National Meet concluded on Saturday, May 26th. The three day meet was held on the campus of Indiana Wesleyan University located in Marion, Indiana. Ten Falcons participated in the National meet.
Karissa Cominator had the most success at the national meet. She competed in the marathon finishing in 4th place crossing the line at 3:03:48.20 and earning All-American status. Cominator found much improvement after competing in the marathon at the 2011 National meet but did not finish.
Jordan Arnold earned All-American status placing 8th in the 5,000 meter race crossing the line at 18:26.15. This is the third All-American Honor Arnold has won this school year the first two coming in cross country and indoor track and field nationals.
Sophomore Ashley Lyons placed 16th in the discus for her first trip to the National Meet. She hit a final mark of 134-02.
Senior Kirt Nichols competed on Friday in the discus. Nichols placed 16th hitting a mark of 155-08.
Senior Javier Ceja placed 38th in his first marathon crossing the line at 3:03:16.20
Falcon Senior Quentin Benning competed in the Shot Put. Benning's longest mark of 49-02.25 placed him in 21st place.
This concludes the 2012 Outdoor Track and Field season. Both men's and women's team had successful season with individuals breaking personal and school records along with both teams winning the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference Meet.
